This week The Secret Beach (CA), Forever Son and The Boatmen are stopping by for a show.
The Secret Beach resists definition. It’s not exactly a band, not quite a studio, and not just a vehicle for Matlock, Manitoba–born songwriter Micah Erenberg—though he’s central to it. It’s more of a vibe, a feeling, a place where music and connection live. Alongside close collaborators Daniel Diamond and Kacy Lee Anderson (of Kacy & Clayton), Erenberg creates heartfelt, DIY songs that blur the lines between country, folk, and slacker rock—rich with warmth, humor, and handmade charm. The sound lands somewhere between a campfire jam and The White Album—easygoing and loose, but with an incredibly detailed attention to production. In 2025, their album we were born here, what’s your excuse? was a surprise JUNO nominee for Adult Alternative Album of the Year—an unexpected nod to a project built from friendship, intuition, and homemade sincerity. Whether playing solo or as a group, The Secret Beach captures a musical intimacy that feels lived-in and free. There are no rules here. Just music—and whatever else they feel like makin’. The rest is a secret.
Forever Son, the project of frontman Jack Robbins, creates lyric driven music lush with harmonies and textures rooted in folk and soft rock. Forever Son has performed across Australia and abroad extensively since 2012 and has three albums and multiple E.P’s out both independently and with There & Back Again Records (AU). ‘By The Book’ Forever Son’s latest split LP with Girlatones, is five tracks of charming 70’s inspired harmonies, jangly guitars, warbling piano and melancholy lyrics. It is out now via BDK Records (AU).
The Boatmen are a Northside trio arisen from a shared love of folk music. Blending melancholic, evocative lyrics with three part harmonies and accompaniments from bass and banjo.
Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.
Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
