Black Cab
with Special Guests
Northcote Social Club (Northcote, VIC)
Friday, 21 November 2025 8:30 pm
Black Cab play their only headline show for 2025 to showcase songs from their forthcoming album. Come hear some new works for the very first time, and dance to some refreshed Cab classics.
Black Cab live blends driving electro‑rock with hypnotic, dark electronic grooves, laced with post‑punk grit and cinematic atmosphere. Think part Berlin nightclub, part psychedelic road trip, with full‑body beats, immersive soundscapes, striking visuals, and a subtle undercurrent of menace.
Times may be dark, but We Are Chemistry.

About the Cab
Australian band Black Cab is Andrew Coates, James Lee and drummer Wes Holland. Formed in 2004, Black Cab’s sound has ranged from psychedelic kraut-rock to driving electronica, often drawing inspiration from Europe and American culture of the ’70’s and ’80’s.
Their debut album, Altamont Diary, a dark take on the Stones’ free concert at Altamont was released in 2004 to critical acclaim worldwide. Between 2006 and 2009 the band released the albums Jesus East (2006) and Call Signs (2009). Call Signs was shortlisted for the 2009 Australia Music Prize. The bands fourth album, Games of the XXI Olympiad was released in November 2014 to critical acclaim and sold out shows in Melbourne and Sydney. In 2017 the band was commissioned to write and perform an alternative soundtrack to the 1988 manga classic, Akira at Melbourne’s Astor Theatre with live taiko drums by Toshi Sakamoto. A subsequent album, Akira (明) inspired by classic Japanese sci-fi anime was released in July 2017. In 2021 the band released their sixth album, Rotsler’s Rules, dedicated to sci-fi writer and cos-play legend William ‘Bill’ Rotsler. The band's work has also featured prominently on television, film and video games.
