Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!

This week My Giddy Aunt, Harper Bloom and Xandri are stopping by for a show.

All-queer & neurodivergent indie rock trio My Giddy Aunt have earned a reputation for their colourful and diverse musical palette, underpinned by songwriting with plenty of heart, passion and more than a touch of whimsy. The Melbourne trio combines the witty lyricism of singer-songwriters like Courtney Barnett with the punch of rock bands from years gone by and the genre-defying arrangements of artists such as Gang of Youths.

After a 2-year hiatus, queer artist, Harper Bloom returns with a triumphant and refined indie-pop Sophomore EP, recorded by UK renowned producer Charlie Westropp (Maisie Peters, Gabrielle Aplin) and Tim Cox in London last year. July single ‘Pinwheel’ received overwhelming industry support, with adds on Spotify’s New Music Friday AU/NZ, New Music Friday NL, Fresh Finds AU/NZ and Canada, Equal Aus, Hits Different and New in Alternative on Apple, as well as premiers on Triple J unearthed and spins on Triple J. Bloom was also made “Modern Gays Guide Cultural Shaping Icon”. Far from a novice in music, originally Bloom made waves with her endearing indie- folk anthems in 2021, gaining support from NME, The Guardian, The Rolling Stone, Triple J, Pilerats, BIGSOUND and many more music media, as well as playing sold out shows across Australia and signing deals with Teamtrick (Allday, Mallrat), Kobalt and Cult Artists. Growing in confidence, musicality and skill, this new EP reflects a coming-of-age for Bloom, and she is ready to begin a new era of her career and give listeners a refreshing new take on inclusive indie-pop.

XANDRI is the Naarm Pop Princess — a 21-year-old emerging indie artist whose blend of pop-punk melodies, folk storytelling, and dynamic rock flourishes makes her impossible to pin down. Since her first gig in December 2023, she’s played over 25 shows, released two singles that have drawn thousands of streams, and is preparing to release her debut EP later this year. Drawing on influences like boygenius, Alanis Morissette, Angie Hart, Jen Cloher, Jess Ribeiro, and Remi Wolf, XANDRI creates music that is as honest as it is infectious. Her lyrics—whether raw and vulnerable or joyously affirming—reflect a life beyond her years, connecting deeply with listeners who feel both the stories and the emotions behind them.

Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.

Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
