Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week Fan Girl, Matahara and GUSH are stopping by for a show.
Brandishing an unruly noise audible to the ends of the earth, Australian outfit Fan Girl unravel in an eclectic mix of intensity, colour, chaos and catchiness. After the tragic passing of founding member Jack Wood, a total re-evaluation of their place in music, and a pandemic, Fan Girl are back with a wealth of exhilarating new music, coupled with their urgent, explosive live shows, and an ever growing appreciation for each other, life, & obnoxious guitar music.
Matahara is the solo project helmed by Marissa Yudinar (she/her) - an independent artist from Naarm via Jakarta. The 24-year-old-artist creates forward-thinking bedroom pop that lives in a world of its own and gives light and warmth to everyone around her.
Influenced by the enormous guitar rock of the ’90’s, GUSH have forged their own sound through triumphant fuzzed-out guitar, melodic bass lines, and huge hooks that permeate throughout their music. Occupying a space between the Melbourne shoegaze, indie, and alternative scenes, the band blends songs about everyday life with an emotionality that makes you want to dance and cry.
Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.
Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
Northcote Social Club strives to create a safe space that everyone can enjoy.
Crowd surfing & dangerous behaviour will result in removal from the venue.
