This week Mellowing, Great Australian Bank, Rhom Konnie are stopping by for a show.

From different corners of the country, Mellowing assembled at the start of 2025 to put a new spin on the familiar sounds of 4th wave and midwest emo. Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Mellowing aim to provide a fresh perspective in a well-explored genre by pulling from their backgrounds in jazz, punk, funk, and jangle. Mellowing unveiled their first recorded music, 'some things can't be unsaid' in early 2026. Constantly evolving, Mellowing are now putting in the time and piecing together their next project with a lean towards heavier riffs, darker vocals, from a more established compositional voice and a greater sense of self.

Great Australian Bank is a bastardised post-punk/Australiana quartet from Naarm (Melbourne, VIC). Drawing inspiration from the likes of The Church, The Go-Betweens and Sonic Youth, Great Australian Bank channels a sound that is equal parts angular, melodic and nostalgic. Borne of Naarm's vibrant post-punk underworks, Great Australian Bank have carved out a niche following with their memorable live shows, laden with mystique and pulling no punches. 2024 saw the release of Great Australian Bank’s debut album ‘To The Dry' - a stark reflection on personhood in Australia's oppressive history, articulated with energy and grit. The band soon followed with the release of their single 'Leaving' in late 2025, alongside a multi-state tour and appearance at Brunswick Music Festival's Sydney Rd. Street Party.

From Eora/Sydney, writing about love and life with rare authenticity, Rhom Konnie blends the softer and harder ends of the indie sound with introspection, messiness and something real.

Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.

Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
