Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week Strawberry Prince, Japes and Hidden Passage are stopping by for a show.
Born in Canberra and currently based in Melbourne, the past four years have seen Strawberry Prince winning over crowds in both cities with his consistently unique approaches to indie-folk conventions. He has earned particular praise for his lyrics, with those for his debut single ‘Chinese Takeout’ (released in 2022) being internationally published in the American zine ‘Paper Frames’, co-edited by Field Medic. His much anticipated debut album, produced by Melbourne music scene staple Liam ‘Snowy’ Halliwell (Snowy Band, the Ocean Party), is set for release in the second half of 2025.
Japes is the project of Mia Kelly (she/they), a musician, producer, DJ and broadcaster based in Naarm (Melbourne). They showcase a piece-meal approach to genre, juxtaposing treated guitars, sonic art and deep bass to concoct a thoughtful heady blend.
Hidden Passage is the singer/songwriter mask of Naarm/Melbourne artist Kaelan Emond. During their years of playing drums with the likes of Super X, Snafu and Obscura Hail, Kaelan has been crafting guitar-based sing-songs in the shadows. The songs are stories, laments and celebrations often asking, "what the hell is our reality?"
Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.
Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
