Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week St. Morris Sinners, Echo Social Club and Best Actor are stopping by for a show.
St. Morris Sinners formed in late 2011 and quickly made a name for themselves through their high energy live performances, blending the genres of Punk Jazz and Alternative Rock. They have played alongside notable musicians over the years such as: Kid Congo Powers, Sleaford Mods and Modcon. Their latest outing and fourth studio album Nightmares released Oct 31st 2024 through French label Beast Records. Prior to this, they have a self titled EP (2013) and three albums - For Lease (2014), Songs About Insects (2016), and Zbilanc (2022) - under their belt. Their Melbourne/Naarm album launch is set for Monday, Feb 10th at Northcote Social Club for Social Sanctuary.
Steeped in the classic two-piece formula – Echo Social Club are a rock n’ roll power duo consisting of Jake Bicchieri & Neve Tullberg. Cutting their teeth with an impressive string of shows since their debut in the middle of 2023, the duo continue to hone their sound - launching vicious walls of hooky riffs, cannon-fire drums and fiery vocals on audiences, defying their expectations on just how quite 'big and loud' two people can be. Following their singles eCowboy and My Brother Ego, Echo Social Club released their debut EP WHITE HEAT - WHITE NOISE produced by Michael Badger (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Amyl & The Sniffers, Full Flower Moon Band) in mid-2024.
BEST ACTOR are a Melbourne-based six piece cobbled together from long-time sidemen, sidepieces and scene victims that found each other in the dog days of 2024. With a debut LP out later in 2025, the sextet's sound spans the yawning chasm between contemplative sad-sack folky dirges and glammy, vampy noise rock Australiana. Like a kookaburra that flew in through the front door and can’t find their way back out, there’s a lot of laughter but in the end the joke’s on them. This is deadly serious stuff and you should find no humour in it.
Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.
Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
Northcote Social Club strives to create a safe space that everyone can enjoy.
Crowd surfing & dangerous behaviour will result in removal from the venue.
