Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week HYLA, Che Arthur (USA) and CVRNs are stopping by for a show.
Pulling influences from dream pop, garage and 90s psych, Hyla is a project formed by Alex Hayes and Rob Stephens who have played and toured extensively in bands such as Abbe May, Gum and The Silents over the last decade. HYLA is an outfit reminiscent of 90's psych classics like Lush, the Jesus and Mary Chain and Stone Roses, with a taste of new wave influences such as the Church and the Go Betweens. The result is a swirl of fuzzed out guitars, layered melodic vocals, and a sound that is at once fresh and nostalgic.
Che Arthur, of the Chicago band Pink Avalanche, was previously guitarist of Chicago-based Atombombpocketknife. Around the time ABPK ended, Arthur released his 1st solo album "All of Your Tomorrows Were Decided Today". After over a decade making electronic and instrumental albums as the projects Professor Downfall and Ha Subliminal, Arthur returned to rawer guitar-driven work with his fourth album “For That Which Now Lies Fallow” in 2024. He released his fifth album under his own name, “Describe This Present Moment", in January 2026.
CVRNS (Caverns) are Melbourne based shoegaze/dream pop duo Tex Keane and Maia Efstathis. Drawing sonic inspiration from bands such as Beach House, MBV, Slowdive and Radiohead. Their moody sound is driven by captivating guitar riffs, psychedelic synth textures and lush harmonies.
Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.
