Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week Lunar Lagoon, Astari and Alice Ruby are stopping by for a show.
Taking influence from Mount Kimble, King Krule, The Streets, Cocteau Twins + more, the group’s angular & rich sound, paired with the moody introspective lyrics of Nurrish, encapsulates the spaces between, the feeling of darkness coinciding with the light, and explores themes of nostalgia & the unknown. With the release of their debut EP “Light Seeps Thru My Blinds”, coverage was seen across Triple R, & FBi Radio, with plays on the Breakfasters & Double Bounce shows on RRR, and “Wayw(ard)” being included in FBi’s best new music playlist. A small run of 7” vinyl was also pressed for the debut single “MINISKULE!”, with Naarm/Melbourne band Speed Mullet. Dusting off the cobwebs, and emerging with purpose, Lunar Lagoon is taking on 2026 head-on. With the release of singles “Miles” & “Drifting Away” the group’s follow up self-titled EP is expected in May-2026. Recorded, mixed & mastered internally by the group, Lunar Lagoon’s upcoming EP also sees performance & production from Daniel Devlin (The Belair Lip Bombs, Delivery), Emma Hall-Phillips (aw b) & Harry Lowe (Dual Citizen).
Previously fronting Sydney band Coconut Cream, Astari is the solo project of singer-songwriter Astari Mudana. Drawing from personal moments and everyday experiences, Astari writes intimate, reflective songs rooted in observation and emotional honesty, creating music that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. This will be Astari’s debut full band show.
Alice Ruby creates "lush cinematic indie pop" (The Au Review), blending whimsy vocals with rich strings and dreamy guitars. At just 22 years old, Alice has already had a vibrant music career. She has a background in classical violin, completed a double bachelor’s in music composition and film and plays guitar in indie rock band Des Cortez. Her multidisciplinary background has shaped her impressionistic approach to song writing, blending visual influence with classical and pop sensibilities to craft her unique ethereal, dark pop sound. Career highlights include #1 on the AMRAP Metro Charts, Triple J unearthed track of the day, music videos on Rage, playlists including Spotify Fresh Finds Indie and Fresh Finds AU/NZ and a sold-out headline show in December 2025. Over the past year, she has released 5 singles and will soon release her debut EP. This new body of work is a culmination of her musical experience, blending orchestral composition with high quality production. Throughout the EP, Alice composes and performs lush, orchestral arrangements, often built from layers of over 30 violin parts.
