FAMILI is woven from Oceania’s past, present and future. What began as a calling to connect artists at the intersections of Pasifika, Blak, queer and trans experiences has bloomed into a years-long intercultural musical collaboration. The shapeshifting collective draws from the ancient and new, honouring the sounds of the past through recontextualizing traditional instruments into genres of rap, R&B and electronic, culminating in anthems of resistance that propel their sonic lineages into the future.

FAMILI’s debut single ‘Firekeeper’ marks the first chapter of a larger unfolding world. Featuring the diverse talents of Lakatoi, Porobibi, Waru, Dani Sib, and Lonelyspeck, it’s a 4.5 minute portal through stormy cinematic ambience, industrial Pacific rhythms, and spirited chants of liberation.
