Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!

This week Norwood, Hairclip and Ellen James are stopping by for a show.

Norwood is the project of Naarm/Melbourne based singer-songwriters Olivia Bolmat and Nathaniel Peacock. Formed through a shared admiration of upfront lyricism and inseparable harmonies, the pair have always aimed to create songs that find weight in their unassuming tenderness. Drawing influence from artists like Bonny Light Horseman, Courtney Marie Andrews & The Dead Tongues, the duo fuses Americana inspiration with the alt-folk sounds of their home city, piecing together vulnerability with candid self-awareness to craft their own take on observational songwriting.

Hairclip are a Naarm-based band made up of dear friends, neighbours and housemates. Gentle improvisations and closely felt lyrics are pillars of Hairclip’s unique, intimate sound. This 7-piece outfit convene to create music that is tender and bewitching and reflects their inner worlds.

Ellen James, a bard from the bush, dwelling in the big smoke (Narrm) conjures music with vulnerable lyricism and unusual melodies that leave you to lament with love, loss and living. Her strange unruly folk bestows a sense of nostalgia and authentic chaos.

Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.

Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
