Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week Great Australian Bank, Hannah Kate and TILE are stopping by for a show.
Great Australian Bank is a bastardised Australiana / post-punk quartet hailing from Naarm (Melbourne, VIC, Australia). Drawing inspiration from the likes of The Church, Sonic Youth, The Cure and The Go-Betweens, Great Australian Bank channels a sound that is equal parts angular, melodic and nostalgic. 2024 saw the release of Great Australian Bank’s debut album ‘To The Dry’ to critical acclaim. Recorded and produced by Rohan Sforcina (Gold Class, Oh Mercy, Radio Free Alice, Adalita), ‘To The Dry’ is a stark reflection on personhood in Australia's oppressive history; articulated with energy and grit. Having cut their teeth in Naarm’s vibrant post-punk underworks - with several releases, tours, and support slots for the likes of Press Club already under the belt - Great Australian Bank have emerged as an exciting new act to watch.
Hannah Kate is an indie-garage rock outfit based in Naarm, fronted by powerhouse Hannah Wales and backed by Alice Shannon, Eddie Knight and Sam Drew-Rumoro. Over the past 6 years Hannah Kate have earned themselves a reputation for their raucous live shows and their intelligent brand of rock and roll. They’ve attracted a diverse audience with frontwoman Hannah’s exciting songwriting ability, her sense of humour and DIY attitude.
TILE is a four-piece alt-rock outfit from Naarm, Melbourne, Australia. They combine elements of post-punk and indie rock guitars, driving an upbeat rhythm section and baritone new-wave vocals with classic pop hooks. Exploring the breakdowns and growth of relationships, universal experiences and the nuisances of your twenties whilst dealing with mental health, TILE presents an overall theme of personal development. Taking sonic inspirations from bands like The Cure, Bloc Party and Interpol.
Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.
Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
THIS SHOW IS STRICTLY 18+
Northcote Social Club strives to create a safe space that everyone can enjoy.
Crowd surfing & dangerous behaviour will result in removal from the venue.
